beta update #01 / what's new on retroshelf
2 min read
Last week we launched our beta. You've been busy since, building shelves and logging what you play, so here's what's changed and a few numbers from the beta so far.
Since the beta opened, we've shipped:
- Global search. Hit Cmd+K, or tap the search icon on mobile, and jump straight to any game, device, or user.
- RetroAchievements import. Link your RA account and we'll pull your history in, marking those games as played, so your shelf matches what you've actually beaten.
- SpruceOS support. SpruceOS handhelds now track play sessions automatically, alongside OnionOS and muOS.
- An API for launchers and emulators. If you're a developer, you can now send play data straight into retroshelf. Check out the docs.
Most of the day-to-day lives in our Discord - come hang out: https://discord.gg/aqGkhZanb
Now the fun part. Here's the beta so far:
- You've tracked 258 different games between you, across 25 different handhelds.
- The Miyoo Mini Plus is the most popular handheld so far, with the Steam Deck, Miyoo Flip, and Odin 2 close behind.
- Most-added game: The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, with Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, Final Fantasy VII, Metroid: Zero Mission, and Super Mario World close behind.
- Mooncheez360 has added 113 games to their library already, making them our reigning collector by a mile.
- CyberRymden plugged in a handheld and watched 130 play sessions import themselves, with a clear soft spot for Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow.
That's all for now. If something feels annoying, missing, or worth improving, come tell us in Discord.
