beta update #03 / one month, one thousand hours
It's been a month since the last update, and you've been busy. More than half of you weren't even here last time: 42 of our 76 members joined in the last month. Here's where the community stands today:
You've now tracked 1,367 different games between you, across 67 different handhelds. Last update those numbers were 847 and 34.
Together you've logged over 2,600 hours of play time across 2,295 sessions - more than 1,000 of those hours in the last month alone.
Most of it came in through our tracker plugins:
- muOS: 1,788 hours across 934 sessions
- Android: 411 hours across 560 sessions
- SpruceOS: 113 hours across 496 sessions
- OnionOS: 99 hours across 164 sessions
- Knulli: 23 hours across 116 sessions - brand new this month, more on that below
- SteamOS: plugin just released
Here's where those hours landed, by handheld, with the top three games on each:
- RG35XX Pro: 702 hours, led by Ace Attorney Investigations, Gyakuten Kenji 2, and Valkyrie Profile
- RG40XXV: 483 hours, led by Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong Country, and Super Mario Land DX
- RG35XXH: 225 hours, led by Stardew Valley, Link's Awakening DX, and Max Payne
- RG35XX Plus: 179 hours, led by Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath, True Lies, and Doom Troopers
- Miyoo Mini Plus: 114 hours, led by Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, Pokémon FireRed, and A Link to the Past
- Miyoo Flip: 96 hours, led by Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, Metal Gear Solid, and Evoland
- Thor: 90 hours, led by Chrono Trigger, A Link to the Past & Four Swords, and Ocarina of Time 3D
- MagicX One 35: 78 hours, led by Pokémon Emerald, Jackie Chan Adventures, and Burnout Legends
The most-added games this time around: Tetris leads with 17 shelves, followed by Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Donkey Kong Country, and Disney's Aladdin.
RetroNick holds the collector crown for a second update running, now at 216 games - but godOFslaves is right behind at 206. Meanwhile wd807 has quietly become our resident farmer, logging 72 hours of Stardew Valley across 59 sessions, all on the same RG35XXH. That's a lot of parsnips.
And because this is retroshelf, someone had to go digging through the archives: the oldest game logged so far is Star Ship from 1977, with Space Invaders (1978) and 3-D Tic-Tac-Toe (1979) close behind. Forty-nine years of gaming history on one shelf.
What we shipped
Knulli and Batocera support. The Linux tracker now covers two more custom firmwares, so Anbernic, TrimUI, and a whole lot of other handhelds can track play sessions automatically. Set up Knulli or Batocera.
Steam Deck tracking. A new Decky plugin tracks your Steam Deck play sessions, including non-Steam games launched through EmuDeck and ES-DE. Set it up here.
A redesigned app shell. Navigation moved to a bottom tab bar on mobile, with a slimmer header and a new You hub that gathers your profile, library, devices, and settings in one place.
Better manual logging. You can now backdate sessions, enter time more flexibly, and start a log from anywhere - no more bending your history around the moment you remembered to log it.
Library upgrades. A new list view, plus drag-to-reorder so your shelf is sorted your way.
Original hardware catalog. The device catalog now includes the original consoles themselves, and the device explorer picked up filters to help you dig through everything.
